More of the same

It has been only 2785 days since I last blogged  Thats only 7 years, 7 months  and 14 days. Thats not much! My life hasn't altered that significantly.

I have got a job after that tear jerker of a blog post. Phew... relief. Funnily I am still stuck to that!
I have been married. Thank god I am still stuck to that!
I have had a daughter. Precious one at that. I love to tuck her to bed.
I have moved 4 cities and made in-numerous relationships. I am not stuck with any of that.

Not bad at all if I look back. I recall what Raman Uppal, LBS professor mentioned. We work abnormally hard to live a normal, routine life. Truism.

I can say with some level of certainty that I have achieved some of the goals that I had set.

My parents are satisfied about how I turned out. Check that.
Made some reasonable money for myself. Check that.
Partially enjoy my work. Check that.
Have a family that can just about tolerate me. Check that.
I did not screw up my career as yet. Check that.


Those are good accomplishments in seven years and seven months.Interestingly next 7 years and 7 months is going to be more of the same.

The undertones of an Overton window

This is a momentous week to recall the pivotal year of 1991 in India's history. 1991 was a remarkable period in the country's history. India was at a crossroads, which was a fancy way of saying we were bankrupt. The cabinet secretary handed a note to the newly sworn-in PM. Stress-tastic: The Art of Worrying Well

The human capacity for stress is boundless. Give us a problem, and we'll worry. Take the problem away, and we'll find something else. Stress is such a stressful topic amongst the chatterati. To assess the quality of challenges in a given society, look at what the local newspaper in the city is fretting over.  I visited a country last month where food allergens and bullying at school were among the most stressful issues for the community. The local newspaper reported food mislabeling as one of the gravest crises of the century. The locals were stricken with grief when they heard about employees back in my country working nine hours a day! They claimed to have empathy burnout by merely hearing the story! A Child getting bullied at school can cause deep distress in this community. As a child, I remember getting thrashed at the playground. I come back home with a deep gash in my hand.
